31 days away

Patience... something I believe every Peace Corps applicant really has to learn, or at least deal with.  After waiting, and waiting... and waiting, departure day is finally drawing near and my mind is trying to switch gears from "it's never going to happen" to "this is happening really soon".   I received my staging information yesterday.  And for the First time ever, Peace Corps surprised me by delivering something earlier than expected.  It is starting to sink in that I really am leaving in a month and I am excited but also a little terrified.  Having backpacked Nicaragua in August of 2010, it is reassuring to be familiar with the country where I will be spending the next two years of my life but regardless, I am moving to Central America for TWO years...  trying to grasp that...  I have a few friends in Nicaragua which is comforting.  But this is starting to feel really real really fast.  Monday I get to order my plane ticket to DC.  The flight to Nica is already booked.  Washington - Miami - Managua 7:30am May 9th.  By 11:30am May 9th I will be in Nicaragua trying to take it all in.  Up until this point I have been very cautious to get too excited, feeling like it could fall through at any minute.  But now its go time - time to start preparing to leave.  Time to figure out what in the world to pack for the next two years of my life :-).  About 31 days until go time.  I know this time is going to fly by.
